About the Project
House2Home is an e-commerce website for finding inspiration and shopping for home decor items & accessories like plants, vases, pillows, books, etc. House2Home focuses on providing a personal shopping experience without breaking the bank, as most products on House2Home are within a $50 price range.
My Role
During this solo design sprint, I was in charge of executing all discovery, ideation, and creative processes.
Research
With the project brief, I was given thorough primary and secondary research via white papers, user interviews, and surveys. House2Home surveyed and conducted interviews with 10 young adults who live independently to gather information about their experiences with decorating their living spaces. These interviewees expressed having less control over their home decor than they’d like to have.
Reflections
Throughout this 5-day solo design sprint for House2Home, I learned a few lessons. First and foremost, understanding the significance of pressure as a motivator for rapid, efficient ideation. Thanks to the time constraints, I was pushed to make quick design decisions and not think too hard about perfecting the loose ends immediately, and learn to refine ideas later on in the process. Secondly, I learned that gathering inspiration from existing products isn’t bad practice and is actually helpful in developing quick designs using tried and true methods.
